Agenda

The Alumni Community gathering will be held in conjunction with Ag Field Day on April 26, 2008, 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM, CAFT Conference Room/MacLinn Auditorium in the Food Science Building.  At 12:00 PM the Alumni Committee will host a light lunch in the CAFT Conference Room with a meet-and-greet for the alumni and their guests.  This hour is used to allow the alumni to tour the department and to re-connect with friends. 

2008 Awardee:  Dr. Marcus Karel

This year we are honoring Dr. Marcus Karel for his contributions to the Department of Food Science, Rutgers University, and the field of Food Science and Technology.  Dr. Karel served as the State of New Jersey Professor of Food Science and as a member of the Graduate Faculties of Food Science and Chemical Engineering (1989-96). He will be joined by family members and friends.  The award ceremony will take place in the MacLinn Auditorium at 1:00 PM.

Guest Speaker: Fred Kasak of Whole Foods Market

Our guest speaker, who is scheduled to speak following the award presentation to Dr. Karel, will be Fred Kasak of Whole Foods Market. The title of his presentation is “Whole Foods Market: A Historical Perspective and Future Plans.”

Other Invited Guests: Wegmans Food Markets

Representatives from Wegmans Food Markets of Woodbridge, NJ will set up a table outside of the Food Science building on College Farm Rd.  They will provide snacks and beverages to the general public.
