Following her retirement from Rutgers, Dr. Jeannette Haviland-Jones steps down as Associate Director for CSSI, but continues in the role of consultant.
AeroFarms LLC, partners with CSSI researchers BJ Tepper and JE Simon to enhance the nutritional quality and acceptability of baby leafy greens grown indoors.
AeroFarms, headquartered in Newark, NJ, is one of the premier developesr of indoor, vertical farming technology. This research was made possible by a $ 1M grant from the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research, Seeding Solutions Program. See the following links for more information on this award.

The Sensory Testing Annex located on the 4th floor of the Food Science Building is now complete and open for business. This area provides 800 additional sq ft for sample preparation, focus groups, and consumer testing. Three qPODs (Portable Olfactive Devices) on loan from QRS-Tragon (formerly qResearch Solutions) also reside in this space.

Congratulations to CSSI Director Beverly Tepper who was elected Fellow of the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT). Dr. Tepper was recognized for her exemplary leadership in promoting the understanding of sensory science through her various roles as a researcher, educator, and mentor. Congratulations to CSSI Associate Director Jim Simon, winner of the Rutgers University Chancellor’s 2017 International Impact Award.
